They had sales guys like Jack in this area up until the '60s, too.

My MIL used to talk about her "blanket man" who came around about once a month with
catalogs and samples, taking orders for next time.

I love it.  I grew up with  all the women of the family wearing those aprons at home.  By my day, there were just the half aprons tied around the waist.  I still have a drawer of those aprons but I haven't worn one in years.  Loved this story of yours.   Great memories.

Yes poor old Jack, seems he was an upmarket version of our traveling shop. He enjoyed his life no doubt. I wish I could have done that.' My hasn't our little Helen grown , she will soon have the boys chasing her.' Little Helen gives a shy smile. 'I hope so.' she thinks.

I guess he was the pre-Internet version of Facebook, which doesn't sell aprons yet, but probably soon will...
