Yes very exciting I remember you as a young girl, A little bit reckless, but determined to squeeze every ounce of joy out of those happy days. I think I would have stayed with your Mum And Dad.

Memories of seeing the world,

experiencing first hand the temperature, the air and weather, the smells... The awareness of looking at things built by human hands centuries and millenia ago...  Wonderful!

Egypt sounds like an incredible place to visit. I would like to visit there one day to see the pyramids.

My radiation oncologist was Egyptian, with framed copies of ancient

drawings on the walls of his waiting room. Your descriptions of all this made me think of those weekly visits 8 years ago. I don't think I ever wanted to ride a camel, and the idea of climbing through a tunnel into a tomb - thanks, Mom, but I'll just walk around the outside of the thing and marvel about how they built the thing without big machinery...

Very interesting post.  You have/had a lot of spunk.  I'm not sure I would have done that.  I've never liked being enclosed in small spaces.

What a trip that must have been!  I have to confess, I've always felt sad hearing the story of the Boy King.  (He was murdered at the age of nineteen).  I've never had any interest in seeing the looted treasures of his tomb, because to me, it's just wrong and disrespectful to do such things.  Still, I respect that not everyone feels that way.  Just me being a bit stiff, I guess.

Still, Egypt is a beautiful land in herself, and I'm so happy for you and your Mum and Dad that you all got to see it together.  I wish I could have known them.

Kabuiepie-;)~

Absolutely professional writing. You kissed the Blarney stone and then you married the blarney.LOL. But then we see that you are a gifted history professor with the intestinal fortitude to climb up on a camel and take a trip that  would have had me falling off several times.I love you.
