If it's chore because of the 'Sgt. ELF', she should be 'demoted'; but if the whole thing is getting to be a drag, by all means do take a rest...

Take a Winter break. If it feels like work and it is really dangerous and slippery out there. You should be thinking of what a bad fall could mean. So yes, take a break and see how you feel come Spring.

It sounds like time for a vacation.
You can always go back, I imagine, if you miss the things you've enjoyed.
You are probably too courteous to set her down on her back end and call her on her little games.
