I haven't shopped in second hand shops that much. I am contemplating taking some clothes there or selling in a garage sale.  want to declutter the house

You have done it again with another wonderful poem full of rich imagery.

Once I dressed from my mother's old trunk of flapper dresses, hats and shoes from the twenties.  And yes, little red fox furs that clamped their teeth onto another's tail around the shoulders.  Loved it.

Katray

The imagery is so great in this....and brings back memories of many fun times combing through racks in shops where the society ladies donated - and in some shops, sold - the gowns they could only be seen in once in a season....the stories those gowns could tell ....one just never knows or can assume....

Brings back memories Kat. One of my Aunts was a bit superior in a way. She had a very expensive Ball Gown . It had sequins and I don't know why but it just trailed the ground, the fashion I suppose. As her husband had left and she no longer attended dances, what could she do, no one could wear such a gown in her immediate family, they just were not sophisticated enough. So generously she walked into OXFAM and donated

her precious gift. She probably thought a Duchess who had come on hard times would appreciate such finery. I had seen the gown as she had explained her motives to me.

A couple of days later it was pouring with rain and I saw a local gypsy woman traipsing through the town dragging the gown behind her and not even wearing a coat over the gown. Needless to say I did not mention the affair, Loved your poem
