somehow this poem for me gives longing not for the coming Winter but the new birth next Spring. Perhaps metaphorically thinking of our own new life after death.

The leaves used to be the nurturing softness for birds, now turning into
earth fodder.
"the breaking down, disintegration
of what once was the beauty and the nurturer of nests
creation's birth and flights winging away - giving to the morrow is an embracing rest"

Yes, exactly some of what I mean in this poem, C C T! The transformation, disintegration words plus "giving to tommorow" phrase encompass that meaning, along with others..

Well love yours but my mind turns the leaves into compost and that is lifegiving in the future.

The dying autumn leaves of red and gold, etc.....
The poetry challenge of leaving out "death, leaf, leaves, dying", etc. is a good one because it forces you to create something with a different slant for Autumn. I will attempt it, but will probably take me a couple of days.
