I always seem to use deck, porch, balcony interchangeably when writing, not being sure what it is. I do know what a veranda is because they serve mint juleps there.

An age ago, I started a lawn...
when we moved into our new mobile home. The open sides of the double were protected with plastic and wood which ended up making a great greenhouse over the newly seeded dirt patch, and the grass grew in fast and nice healthy green.

I can only work so long and feel worn out too and it is only getting worse now because they are going to increase my blood pressure lowering pill so I'll feel even less like working.

My mind can dream up such a big full day of work...only to find me back inside exhausted hot and tired after an hour or a bit more. Your energy levels way outdo mine.

In my experience (some years ago, to be sure) they really didn't know about decks in Britain. But their backyards are often walled in with bricks - no 'chatting over the white picket fence' between neighbours, one of the 'staple images' of North American small-town life...For me, these walls always gave the old British saying 'My home is my castle' a very concrete meaning...

I suppose, re deck . Our weather is not really suitable, well it is improving I think.
Some have started to have a raised platform, but most go for something with a concrete floor and brick, glass structure. I expect wood is cheaper for you, though probably people emulate one another. Do you know Pat that since I started eating oat crispy rounds instead of bread I seem to keep clear of tummy aches. Mind I have also stopped taking a couple of pills, so it might be that as well.
