This change is good!

Koriani, didn't mean to confuse you.

1. The URL for Blogit will be www.blogit.com. The same way the logo is spelt! I was only addressing someone's comment that it should be spelt Bloggit...or that people might spell it that way. And if they do, we'll make sure that even those people misspelling it will end up on our home page.

But our official URL is www.blogit.com.

2. Change can cause stress but we're positive that this change is a good one.

As for whether our logo is serious enough? It resembles both Google and eBay's logos. Both sites that are very serious in the services they provide. Thousands of people have built serious and significant businesses on eBay, and everyone doing research even at the highest levels now uses Google for search. They take their work very seriously but still use these two sites.

We think the Blogit logo is welcoming but not childlike. And this logo will ably represent the quality of the bloggers and the blogging!

Thanks!!

We'll let you know a day or two in advance

Decshak, we'll post an announcement here a day or two before we change the official URL. Most probably, we'll have everything lined up by early next week. But again, we'll notify all members via the News blog ahead of time.

And your old bloggingnetwork.com URLs will still work so don't worry about old links too much! Hope that helps!

One would think being an Aries, I would welcome change...

but I'm just an old fogey (at 31) who likes things the way they are.  Change causes stress.

Oh well.  I do like the new logo.  I just wonder if more serious writers will be discouraged by the "not so serious" look of it.

I'll still be here no matter what.  (I know...it brings a tear of thankfullness to your eye.)

One question: If the new name is Blogit why is the web address www.bloggit.com?  Won't that be rather confusing?  (I guess that's two questions....)

When?
When are you changing all the referral addresses to blogit.com?

Blogit
My psyche keeps putting Blogit on an upward slant with an exclamation point at the end of it.  And I fixate on the phrase "Blogitall!"  There's the results of my little seance on this topic.  Unfortunately, I just gave the old url to a Yahoo chatgroup, which has a membership of exactly two persons.  Maybe when the referral address gets changed, I can ask the Moderator to delete what I just posted there.  I had posted it because he said to be sure and let him know how to get a copy of my book when it's finished.  I, on the other hand, wish to solicit feedback before I go to paper printing.... It's just so convenient this way as self-publishing a kind of periodical...

Well, I think it's just adorable, and the colors remind me of the colors
in my 9 year old son's room.  They're cheerful and energetic.

Re: All your comments

To respond to several comments.

We'll see what can be done with the "g" in a future version of the logo. Hopefully, the issue some of you have the "g" will be mitigated in the smaller version to be used on the website.

FYI, we tried capitalizing the "i" in Blogit. But that unfortunately started looking like an "L"...as in BlogIt.

Also, we have bought the Bloggit.com URL so that www.bloggit.com will also take you to the BN home page.

Finally, as for Blogging Network vs Blogit. We realize that many of us (including some of us on BNStaff) like Blogging Network as is. But it is not the most inspiring or memorable of names. We're very optimistic this change will be a good thing!

Thank you for all your comments and suggestions. Much appreciated!

Re: New Logo/Nane

Mysteria, where we come from the rainbow colors (especially in a flag) mean the same. I believe in the LGBT community the colors are supposed to convey the diversity within the community.

We believe that Blogging Network also has an incredible diversity of people and views. And that this can be a place where we can agree to disagree. As well as find like-minded people!

So the multi-colored logo -- which actually is more like Google or eBay's logo rather than a rainbow flag -- hopefully suggests such a place. Note, for example, how two colors are repeated.

We wanted to come up with a name that's easier to remember. Something short and memorable. The name will hopefully read as well as the talent it represents!

New Logo/Nane

Where I come from, rainbow colors and just rainbows in general are associated with and represent our gay and lesbian community.  I thought that maybe this was where you were all coming from at first.  After a few days I realized the rainbow colors here are just that..colors.  Anyway. the new name logo does seem a bit sophmoric and I think it understates the talent here.

But who am I to say...you guys are the experts

Alter the current look of the
g so that it looks less child-like with the two circles.  That also might help with spacing problems between the g and i.  Also, perhaps capitalize the I so that it reads BlogIt.

Blogit - my thoughts on the name & logo.

I think the I should be capitalized, to distinguish WHICH syllable gets the "g" sound.  Otherwise, make it two G's, since (in English) that's what makes the short 'o' instead of a long one.

The colors are good, but could be brighter.   And make an animated version if possible for ads.

It needs an exclamation point or a spiffy underline or something.  Possible a spiffy underline that ends with a computer mouse as the "dot" in the exclamation point.  Or have the cross of the T swirl under the whole word as an underline.

The thing with the G & I touching bugs me, too.  It's like kids in the backseat of the car - either every letter needs to be scrunched together or the standard rule applies - nobody touches anybody.

"The Blogging Network" sounded more professional.   "Blogit" is going to attract a whole different crowd.  Any reason we can't have both?

Beware the Blogit!!!

In the middle of the night, I thought

I was hearing something squirm.

It came from my computer!

Was it virus? Was it worm?

So I logged on and my sleepy eyes

Did see what did portend

To be the end of what I always

termed as "Camp BN."

They're going to call it "Blogit!" and

I guess that will be fine,

The change from noun to verbish sound

Appeals to my mind.

So those of you who disagree

And those of you who pout,

The Blogit! just might gitcha

If you don't watch out!!!

Ah, so you're the ones who took that domain name

At least it's right here in my backyard.  I looked that one up, among hundreds of other possibilities, I was on my mad search for the perfect web address for my free blog...which, btw, I never have time for thanks to the BN...I mean the Blogit?  Hmm, this name doesn't seem to lend itself to being a noun, at least not a place.  "I'm chancellor of the the Blogit"  ...no, that's just wrong.  Blogit sounds more like a creature, but it needs another "g" to work properly.  "We bloggits inhabit the shire of Shaycom, here in middle cyberspace."

I Hate Change

But that's just me.

I think the colors are too...boring.  They don't say "This is a hip place to be!"  I think if the colors were more vivid, more bright they might attract even more folks (though the folks would probably be younger--which would open up a whole new can of worms).

Shucks And Darn It!
This will mean I can no longer refer to our little community as Camp BN! Though a name like "Blogit!" (which, to be honest, sounds like one of the fake profanities Ralphie's Dad used while working on the furnance in the movie "A Christmas Story",) does open itself up for other uses. I could say, "We here in the Blogitarium," or "We really need to make a Blogittment to our writing," or "I am in an extreme state of Bloggitation..." and I'm going to just shut up now...

Blogit
Why not?

A name is everything: concept and site in one two vowels. It's right.

How do you say that in Spanish, "Blogelo"?

From Bunny

I guess I'm boring, too, because I also like Blogging Network better. That said, I like the new logo. I like the colors, and the logo fits the new name.

I'm glad you're not changing the site layout. One of the reasons I like being on B... um.... Blogit... say....

Should the name come with a permanent exclaimation mark? Like this:

Blogit!

"Join Blogit! and be part of our great community. With Blogit!, you can easily format your posts. Blogit! members earn pennies.... er.... dollars! We mean dollars! (each decade.)

Anyway, one of the reasons I like being on Blogit[!] is because it's easy to read and navigate.

call me boring...
but i like the blogging network name! but, given the pace and style of writing in the BN, I guess blogit pretty much sums it up!

3. And, yes, you can have the number one position. If Ariala will let you have it!! :)

Ricebird, it works well on a smaller scale. Which is how it'll be used on the website most of the time. Hopefully, once you've had a chance to see that version your eyes will no longer twitch!

Dear BN Staff

Well, it definitely looks a lot better, and I dare say a lot more enticing for potential members.  However, I have 2 questions.

Question 1:  What will happen with my shares in the "Blogging Network"?

Question c:  Do you plan on making a board game of 'Blogit?  'Cos it sounds like a kind of board game name, which is a good thing, oh BN staff, sir.

Yeah but it does look a lot better.

So can you make me the number one blogger now?

Hmmm...
I like the blogit logo except for the way the "G" touches the "I"....it irritates me for some reason. It makes my eyes twitch.
