I have noticed that, too, with the weather. It seems like a region is either getting drenched right now or is parched.

I do so hate hearing about the awful wildfires.  Everything seems to go from one extreme to the other instead of sharing.

I've worked in restaurants and yes it takes encouragement for that type of behavior

You do not have a bad spot really apart from the snow in winter. If I had been younger I would have enjoyed your surroundings . Well I suppose ours were like that when I was a boy. Fortunately you don't have a big camp of Gypsies a bit lower down.
