Some good points you made there. I try to be optimistic and happy most of the time.

I would rather be happy but sometimes we don't have a choice

Well Kabu , with luck you will become happier as you age, because you will not remember. See that's the problem I cannot remember why I was unhappy yesterday, I am sure I was, but the feeling eludes me. No I remember, but I shall have to whisper it into your shell-like. You see what makes some unhappy, can make others roll around with laughter. One little thing that nearly made me unhappy was that I bought some Cox apples from new Zealand and they were pithy and soft beneath lovely skin. That's the trouble with skins. Now I could talk about skins, but another time I think.

One can choose to take the happiest route through life, most of the time.

Realizing that it is a choice is the happiest part!

But I think a lot of people tend to expect not-happy, and get pre-emptively unhappy, cynical, bitter, grousey...

A very interesting read on happiness and the impact and effect of the song. I feel you are spot on with your assessment.

Had a conversation last week with my granddaughter kind of along

these lines. She was complaining about life being so boring. I told her I'd discovered boring was the good stuff. Quite often when you're not bored it's because you're dealing with some kind of shit that's hit the fan, somebody's sick or been in an accident or there's a breakup, a lost job or some other catastrophe... "interesting times" are best when they're the exception, rather than the rule.
