I can understand the desire to help do something.  I have personally known three old people who have been mugged in the past--two old women and one old man.  It made all of them be to scared to go out and about and they became stay-ins.

Well written, she should move to the country like where we live, cops are all Highway Patrol types and will take on everything actually.

you wrote the cop shop section so realistically that I wanted to get my trusty umbrella and trip him up, pompous.....see good writing to make me feel that way.

Now, could she have a nephew or realize that she actually knows one of the neighborhood watch boys...get his help all hush hush...

What she should do is get a strong young man to emulate a poor old lady and then do her thing.

one thing...I remember here in St. Louis there was a woman who also got fed up about the gangs.  She first beautified the outside of her house.  She planted flowers and cleaned all around her house.  She also made sure there was sufficient lighting.  She then got the neighbors involved doing the same thing.  Crime was drastically reduced in the area.

Great job pat b!

the one flaw I noticed is that if they steal your social security check (unless it's already been cashed) they will just issue a new one and go after whoever cashes the check.
