Every country has its own type of humor.  I remember sitting in the movie Same Time Next Year.  Jane Fonda says "I always thought that the eyesight would be the first to do in an accountant."  I laughed.  Nobody else did.  It was Mexico City.

Re: CCT,

Funny you should mention the monkey up a stick.  I do have one!

In the mystical, gothic, historic fantasy that has sat for years in my 'on-going projects' drawer, there is a horrible, twisted Jester character who carries a scepter that is a monkey's head on a stick, and he says, "Some days, you shake the monkey!  Some days, the monkey shakes you!" He is very entertaining, the Jester.

It might amaze you to know how many things I know absolutely nothing about!

Re: Kabu,

Yes... Fear, pain, death, sex... Funny stuff! Part of what makes us laugh is looking what we normally turn away from, straight on and confronting our feelings about it. There is an element of relief, deliberately taking the 'monsters' out of the box and dragging them into the light before they come for us. It occurs to me also that we fear not just those 'monsters,' but also the feelings about them that we don't control.  Laughing at a thing gives a sense of control over it. So, whatever fear you have, imagine it in a pink tutu and combat boots, wearing a goofy hat...

It is amazing how different forms entertainment slowly takes over.People like to be entertained and one cannot find many monkeys up a stick these days. That is a joke Ciel.

Perhaps you never had one as a little girl. I expect you knew most of the answers Arthur will sit and tell me them if we watch such as Universty Challenge.

I got stuck on watching Japanese games...crazy...it seems as if it is no fun for the viewers unless there is pain. Yes English humor for me is the best always.
