kabu

we all feel down at times because of the problems around the world and at home we have homeless, crime, etc.  but you are so right, things may change but will not end.

thought the pic was neet, yes , they look like lips.  and then once spring has sprung you will be bouncing around in your garden with the gnomes and telling us stories about them.  ah yes, spring.

That all does sound somewhat depressing, and I hope those lips aren't readying to kiss us all goodbye! I never imagined I might see WW III in my lifetime, but more and more it looks like it's slowly becoming a reality. I hope there are rainbows afterward . . .

Oh, and I didn't mean to imply there's nothing to worry about and

that the stuff you mentioned isn't frightening. It is. And when we get to the point where it all looks hopeless, it's hard to drag ourselves out of the pattern of worry. One thing that gives me hope is there are so many well-meaning good-hearted people in the world, and love wins.

The problem, Kabu, is we turn on the news and all those lip-flappers

are competing with one another to be more dramatic, more interesting. They let their bias show, exaggerate for effect, forgetting that what they're supposed to do is tell us what's going on - fact by fact. We get opinion, conjecture, fear - very little fact.

I've seen broadcasts of a situation that looked on TV like all hell was breaking loose, when in fact I was actually there and saw a lot of good stuff happening that the cameras didn't bother with. Thinking of Nov. 30, 1999 when workers and students from all over the world protested the WTO conference in Seattle. Toward sundown a few of the anarchist group pulled a dumpster out into the street and set fie to it - moved it away from the building before they lit it. Then a couple high school brats threw a newspaper vending box through the plate glass window of a Starbucks, and that was what got the police to riot. Later on, the cops lost lawsuits about their unlawful behavior, but that never got publicized much. And the protest stopped a trade agreement that would have trampled on workers' rights all over the world...

I thought the clouds resembled a plume from a nuclear blast. Still, it was a good

post. These are certainly turbulent times.

Happy days are here again, If you keep being a misery. I shall put potato spell on you. To tell you the truth, I have never come across such a rowdy batch of gnomes in all my puff. I think there should have a bit of commando training, just toss them out in the snow for a week. Those that don't make it back to base should be put in the bin for salvage.

We all have those moments. How can we not, constantly surrounded as we are by bad news? What's inspiring is that we do bounce back - we realize the importance of each good thing and/or action and embrace it...and keep on keeping on.
