Once Kabu we were offered a small wood at £20 an acre . We thought it might be a worry. Years later it was sold as building land. I did see a wood being advertised for sale recently it was very cheap, but way off the beaten track. The birds do not seem hungry at all here, I think too many are feeding them and they are spoiled for choice.

I used to live next door to the wild, not 10,000 acres, but there was

open range, protected govt. land and glacier streams with trout and crawdaddies in them. Some of my most memorable days were spent hiking, wading and just being aware of the turn of the earth. It was taken for granted then, but a treasure now.

Kabu that is beautiful, I am leaving a home that has a real national forest in my back yard.  When thing were good here I loved to just watch out the back from my chair and see the birds and the little family of deer scutter around.  Rhiley like to chase chipmunks in the courtyard, and we have the crazy bluebird protecting her nest, that when you  go to the mailbox, she swoops down  and frightens you.  During the good weather I put on my boots and cross the street and it is about a mile of hiking to get to the Chattahoochee.  I'm sure I will find hiking in the mountains as well in this little town that unless your going somewhere else and get lost or your riding the train, it is just the locals.

Kabu

A woman I once knew had a plan to work as a volunteer in our National Parks when she retired...she had all the info and often talked about having all that land to herself to get out with her feathered friends...I had forgotten about her; need to see if I can find out if she did it.  Your place sounds wonderful and I know you're in all the best travel guides for birds!

That would be awesome to own all that undeveloped wooded land, watching nature in action.

Kabu

I think your job in Heaven will be to oversee the care and feeding of the animals or maybe that in the Millennium.

That would be lovely.  Chickadees are the state bird here, and I love them.
