Re: Annicita,

It is a travesty to crucify him for embellishing, when we have politicians at every level that outright lie and deceive on matters far more significant. I daresay one motivation behind trying to make certain reports more personal and engaging was to keep his job in a world where his bosses are all about ratings.

I think the issue is that he is news man.  It is his job to provide unbiased and truthful news.  Those are key components to his job.  Most people rely on those aspects when listening to the news.  Now that his credibility is shot there is no point for him to continue at the moment.  Can he make a come back?  Only time will tell.

Re: Re: Gheeghee,

When he has a talk show, a tell-all book and an independent news site you will think differently.

In every corner of our country, there are 'media vultures,' just waiting to pounce on any public figure for any transgression. Sure, he was 'in err,' but how many other newscasters were in similar circumstances? The difference is, he finally 'got caught.' Yeah, I'm ready to cut him some slack too . . .

Re: FormerStudentIntern.

...and especially, that the commedians haven't gotten wind of any of it!

Re: Gheeghee,

I don't think so.  This would be a really lousy strategy to make himself more marketable.

Re: CCT,

Brian Williams is one of the few news anchormen who is actually a journalist in any real sense of the word.  He has been delivering the news for many years, the generation after the Greats like Walter Cronkite and a few others began to retire. The generation before the deplorable arrival of Bimbo Journalism.

He has been telling a story for years about being in a chopper in Iraq that was shot down. Apparently, it was someone else in the chopper, and he's accused of everything on the continuum from mis-remembering to embellishing to outright lying.

I, too, am glad that my most embarrassing mistakes are not out for the public to see as well.

Wonderful Post dear Ceil and thank you for making me stop and think. I like the guy whenever I see him on my screne and who hasn't embelished a story on occassion...I thought the wits and comedians had a field day ..very funny and that was enough. And as for dangerous embelishments of a story, didn't we all go to war because some one dreamed up Weapons of Mass destruction? Now we are seeing where that is still going.

well I don't believe anything on the news. I bet this is his agent's doing to get him a better gig elsewhere.

Well I don't know who the guy is Ciel. However I agree with you, what you say makes sense.
