Re: Re: Re: Naut,

A wide, boggy place, often problematic, as a slough of despond.  I bow to your transitives and intransitives, I wasn't thinking tensely as I was very relaxed that early in the day.

If your 'slew' derives from 'sluagh' then the spelling should perhaps reflect that.  Ah... perhaps it does, in 'slough' wherein lie a multitude of reeds, for example.  Also, frogs, water, waterbugs, small fishies and a slough of other things.

Re: Re: Naut,

Ah, but 'slew' is a perfectly fine word to use the way I did! 'Slough' as in wetlands wouldn't make much sense, and I know what 'slew' means, though it doesn't exactly mean 'slain - the first being the past of the transitive verb 'slay', the second one being intransitive, the the 'slain' being 'outcome' of my 'slaying', LOL...But my slew derives from the Gealic sluagh, which means multitude...

A good director I expect could have improved this play somewhat but as a playwright I know how important it is to see a play performed and then go home and rewrite the whole or almost the whole thing!!!!

Re: Naut,

Actors do love a stage... of any kind! And there are a lot of amateur playwrites out there, too.

By the way, it's 'slough' meaning a wetlands often of wide dimensions, where 'slew' means slain.

Ciel

There was a time when we had a slew of 'intimate' theatres here in Toronto, offering a rather mixed and mostly forgettable fare - I haven't been in ages, and don't even know how many, if any, are left. I hope there are, though, if for no other reason than to give aspiring actors a stage upon which to strut their stuff...
