Well Pat there have been civilizations before us as you know. Probably not as advanced but what is a thousand years when one thinks of the Universe?

It would be nice to once more have dark hair aglow with youthful sheen instead of dull gray. But, it probably would not match my old face very well.

I do like your poetry and the visits to the past. We seem so far from
the natural world sometimes, but if the lights go out, we'll be right back there and have no clue how to feed ourselves - unless we are gardeners. Melancholy is needed from time to time to balance the bright times.

Re: Jimmy
No Jimmy the skin trade has vanished but lead is still needed. I would not know where to trade it though.I think Dad was too friendly with the Landlords that was the trouble when one knew everybody.

Rough Christmas seasons for sure, managing lead was a dangerous business but I remember mother talking about eatin rabbits in Flixton, nr Manchester where she lived.

Chiff Chaff old chap...the apple didn't fall far from the tree did it? I mean you are the most generous person that I know. You kill yourself gardening and growing stuff just so you can give it all away.

A strange combination . . . rabbit skins and lead. I don't suppose there are many traders left for either business. And I guess your dad was trying to be generous. Perhaps the landlord would have taken some of those skins instead of a pint . . .
