I've heard punchlines about that "old man sound" on sitcoms.
I catch myself grunting and moaning too, especially after I sit still for any time at all.

Well I groan as well Taps groan and moan you are not alone . I think it releives the thought of oncoming pain or shows one wishes one was in a nice warm bed.

takes bravery to get old...My loer back hurts and the pain runs down my legs and i just have to walk it off...BUT go too far and it hurts worse. Australia was a nightmare of covering up the pain with smiles.

Voluntary groans, unlike enforced ones, are just little comforting noises! I've been out in the cold (need to walk the doggie) and didn't find it that bad at all...And I love onomatopoeiae...
