My brother Arthur surprised me he said he gives to a charity that can stop a child from being blind for £20 he thinks that is a good deal.

Facebook also has a great assortment of pleas for funds. I couldn't possibly respond to all of them, and try to also be very selective. I had to 'unfollow' some of the animal rescue sites simply because they make me want to rescue another dog, another cat...

I've begun throwing those appeals for donations into the recycling bin.
It seems every time I donate to The Nature Conservancy or the Red Cross or Salvation Army or any of a number of cancer research organizations, the next week a dozen new appeals show up in my mailbox. I think they're raising money by selling donor names to other fund raisers. So I've decided to donate to the local food bank, the local Habitat for Humanity chapter. (At least until the next thing shows up with beautiful photos of children in need.)
