Like my wife always says, things happen for a reason . . .

Comes back to 'everything happening for a reason'; learns evasive tactics that saved its life later. Corbin is right - your stories are so original and fun to read.

TAPS

I know of research that shows the remarkable intelligence of some other birds (the corvines in particular; I've even posted on that, as you may recall), but I had never thought of chickens in that way! I admit that I too always thought of them as particularly stupid, but I stand corrected. Of course, Little Darling may be a genius among them...

Fascinating indeed,

the inter-connectedness of all things!

Taps what I think probably happened was the little pet chicken probably squeezed under the chicken house or into some bushes. The others ran round and round making themselves targets. Sometimes a fright can give them heart attacks. Didn't want her little brother, no one likes to share the limelight.

Makes sense to me!! and the more I commune with nature especially the animals around here, the smarter I know that they are.

It's as good a theory as any I can come up with.

It's a good thing for a bird to know evasive tactics...
