Re: CCT,

Transgenderism has been recognized for some years now as a real and legitimate thing.  A lot of people really can't seem to get their minds around it, that a person can literally be in heart and mind a gender opposite to the body they were born in. It seems very weird and impossible--and yet... it isn't. And it is such a difficult kind of life to live, due to the lack of acceptance and understanding--not something someone casually chooses, because they want to be in the club.

I am afraid I didn't know it existed, but of course no one called it by name in the old days. Can't wonder though it is like joining a Clique.

We have similar kinds of 'drama' in the family, although there's actually no drama involved - everyone is taking it in stride...

Re: jeansaw,

Yes, I know you have, and I am waving encouragement from your cheering section!

And as to my grandkids, acceptance is a given in this family... But the older one... well, we have to certainly accept that he has his needs, though they may not be what they are thought to be.

Re: Pat,

Their immediate family has exactly that kind of acceptance and understanding--and my daughter at least is damned hard to spin, so if the older one is putting on a show to grab attention, she will be onto him in a split trice!

They get so freaked out and emotional in their teens, it is a wonder

any of them make it to 25. Add questions about being gay, transgender and it really gets difficult at times. All you can do is love them and live the "I'm okay, you're okay" philosophy. ♥

Family drama seems to be a part of every family I know, including my own.  Some do a good job of dealing with it, for others, it is major trauma.

That is great that your family is so accepting.
