i am not big on the fruit of the vine.  not any kind and although i love veggies, veggie wine is not a go.  now i do like glazed cherries soaked in brandy.  that is one or two.

Re: Re:

Re: adnohr

Cowslip used to be a rarity I have only tried it about twice. Tea wine is yucky. Rhubarb nearly killed me once. Better to stick to what one knows.I am glad that you feel happier.

No - brussel sprout wine would not be on my list either. Potato wine, maybe...but I think the grapes are best. Although my granny made a fine dandelion wine...they say. I was too young to try it, and believe I was not brave enough to try it either.

Re: Re:Jimmy

I'll accept it, C C T. I like green, but I think I'd rather just look at it than drink it . . .

Re:

Yes it is funny Kabu that homemade wine could knock anyone over. I had an old uncle

who was a regular drinker. I remember taking him a bottle of home made. He came out of his shed an hour later and gave me the empty bottle. 'Ha,ha.' he said, I can see him now. 'That did me more good than six pints.'

Re: Taps

He was trying to prove a point Taps.Tell Son 1 Kidney bean wine is slightly scented,I would think years ago I was given every kind under the sun parsnip is not so dusty, potato can be quite alcoholic. Never had tomato though. Best to stick to the grape methinks.

Re: Pat

Turkey I expect Pat. If you had seen what my brother once made hooch out of it was Barley with too many rat droppings floating on top. Surprisingly it could be set alight.

Re: FS

A lot of folk now nurture small gardens in raised beds and receptacles. I'm sure you would soon be on the ball.

Re: Wiley

Well I have done it for years Bro, I couldn't do the jobs that you aspire to do.

Re: Ciel

I'm sure the wine would have been fine eventually Ciel but I don't know what it would have tasted like. A good many are having solar panels on the house, you are lucky to have a good source of energy in your country.

I am glad you were not so desperate as to quaff brussels-sprout wine.

When the electricity goes off forever, you will have a great head-start on producing your own food... but the neighbors will be after the veggies, too.

I don't know about Brussel sprouts and bean wine, but if you distilled the stuff correctly and made proper moonshine you'd have yourself a profitable little business on the side...

There's a dwarf red salvia in this country, called Hot Line sir. Don't go deeper than that bed. Lol and have a blessed day sir. Stay well.

I cannot think of a less appetizing drink that brussel sprout wine...

Would that be served with beef or fish?

I know what you mean about those roots! People don't realize how much damage they can do underground until it's too late! And glazed cherries? Sound great! Brussle sprout wine? Oh, no, no, no . . .

I read this to Son #1 and he is disgusted with the idea of making wine out of Brussel sprouts.  He won't even eat them as a veggie.  He suggests you use some kind of fruit.  LOL

when my darling girl friend ws alive in Ludlow in shropshire and I would go and stay with her, she used to make wines out od all sorts of mainly berries and fruits i think. One night i was tast tesing them for her....a job someone has to do....so I had no idea how alcoholic they were until I went to stand up. I found out rather quickly what legless really means.
