i love the light pink , more so than the darker one.

the strange lady would probably be my best friend, i have done some pretty strange things in my day, but never borrowed anything.  i couldnt say steal because she gave it away and somehow it doesnt seem to count as stealing.  kind of an english thing, robin hood and all.  taking from the rich to give to the poor. not that you are poor, but i find you rather rich.  it is all in the spirit isnt it?

Re: Re: C_C_T

It doesn't matter because I don't intend growing any and I didn't like them as well as regular ones.  I just got curious.  LOL

Re:

Well Taps there is a bean here called (Jescot Long un) but it is only grown for shows. I did see the longest bean champion resides in the USA so maybe some seeds are available in a catalogue.Actually we like to pick them before they grow to their full potential, white flowered as the birds don't peck those and stringless, although Arthur still runs them through a slicer and throws the outsides away. I'll show you a picture tomorrow although they are red ones as ran out of white seed

Re: Pat

Well I would not call her a friend Pat, I suppose I was one of those who put up with her although she was quite clever and knew the names of most flowers wild and garden.

Bizarre indeed! Maybe those string beans work as hallucinogenics on her . . .

Thank you for introducing your friend, CC - she sounds like

the kind of woman who'd recite nonsense poetry with her tea - and be remembered long after she went on. She sounds harmless...

I love string beans! And a strange woman indeed - hope she didn't lift anything at your place...

a strange person....Mother used to have one of those string bean cutters. hand turned, but getting it out and then cleaning it after, she could have the beans already boiling in a pot.

What a story.  LOL
I want to ask you something since you know everything about gardens.  Have you ever seen green beans that each grow to be a couple meters long?  You have to grow them at a fence and train them to run along the top so the beans can hang down.  My MIL used to always grow them.  She would pick each one and roll it up before putting them in her basket.  At cooking time she would cut them up into small pieces and cook them like regular green beans.
