One doesn't get much though A. I don't know what it really tastes like.

Re shamasehar:

What a tedious job it must be picking the stamens.Once as you probably know it used as a kind of money. I was just curious to grow some as my brother said when he was in India he could have bought a heap of saffron for £20 . Perhaps it is more expensive now.

I know a lot of projects are sold on the strength of the previous offering. Somehow it did not seem so in the past. Perhaps we have become more selective.

Re: ChiffChiff

If money is involved it is the first thing that matters to the ones who will cream it off Bro.

High grade saffron is grown in Kashmir in India.I once visited a field there and we do use saffron for flavour and color in our cooking.I agree the continuation of a story is not  always good enough to hold your attention. The same is true about sequels of films or even T.V. serials.🌹

ChiffChiff

Yeppers, book writing and selling has turned into a scam of monstrous proportions Bro.

i totally agree with you.  i have gotten into the trap of reading continuing stories and you are right just a way of making more money with less effort.  and some i read i feel i could write as well, maybe a way to make money?

Saffron is a word I just don't come across very often. For some reason, I thought it was some type of fabric. Perhaps I'm mixing it up with chiffon. I don't think you can . . . or should . . . make jam out of that

Re: Bill

Yes I have to get them to bloom first Bill, I do prefer a plum from the tree fully ripe dripping with sweet juice.

Re: Pat

One has to be careful cutting plum trees Pat but sometimes they have just have too much fruit and the tree can split with the weight. All or nothing at times.

Saffron is so damn expensive - it should be a good cash crop...

good idea what you did with the plum tree and i would have tipped out that other jam too. I do hope my continuation of Tom Ugly if I get it written will be as interesting.

You may have saved the plum tree, too much breakage could be bad.

Amazing how talented you all are, with your jams and preserves and all. Must be very
rewarding to plant and harvest such a variety. :)
