It is neat to see the different looks of the moon.

I guess it's human nature to try to scare ourselves with what if...

Or to find portents and omens in ordinary phenomena. I scared the stuffings out of one of my daughter's High School friends once by saying I often heard voices in the house when there was nobody there but me. Her eyes went big and she backed up a step. And then I said "Radio."

I haven't seen it Ciel so I will just imagine it , A rainbow moon would be great, but I guess you will tell me that is not possible.

I love the night skies no matter what is showing.  My dad used to study astronomy and he would point out various stars and constellations and such.

Re: jeansaw,

I guess before pennies, and in primitive times, folks would have seen it as a Blood Moon, too.

i really wanted to see the last one, but it was cloudy and raining.  but i guess i will get more chances.   my sister in houston saw it and said it was awsum.  she said now she understands in early times how it would have scared the people, not understranding what it was.

Re: Naut,

Someone, I think it was Edward de Bono, said that Man seeks not to understand but to explain. And we use whatever knowledge we have, and surmises we like.

Re: Kabu,

The Great Pumpkin effect... the moon rising orangey because of stuff in the air.  But it rises higher, out of the stuff, and is big and white! And when the air is a little cleaner it's the Big Cheese effect.

Naut is right, and after reading Justi's posts I looked up the Internet and yes, there are some interesting arguments. We missed the last one too because of cloud cover, but actually our moon risings here are very dramatic most nights with the Moon glowing a very bright orange.

I remember seeing a couple of them, one of them through a large telescope at the University of Toronto - an impressive sight. The last one was invisible to us - we had a thick cloud cover. But it's uncommon enough for cultures to create mystical and mythical/religious tales around them...
