Re: Naut

When I had my costuming/theatrical makeup and props business, I once got an email from someone in Africa who wanted to put in a really really large order... It was so clearly scam spam, but I wrote back, "Wow, thank you so much, this is so exciting, it means my son can go to college after all, and my mother can get the operation..."  I laid it on thick!

No need to say, I never heard back.

Re: Re: Kabu,

They probably can't and she probably has no idea where you live...just wants some info from you so as to pick your accounts.

Ciel

Dear old 'Ellen' reminds me of some of her Nigerian relatives that I used to have some fun with years ago by pretending I had fallen for their schemes, but needed just a wee bit more information of some sort...It often led to some very funny exchanges, until I got bored with it...

Re: TAPS,

What I noticed was just how perfect she was, how irrelevant some of her information was, and how she was leaping at the situation with way too little information about it.  She never mentioned Colorado Springs, didn't ask about the room or the house or, until the last line, what sort of person I might be.  These are things a real person would be wondering before they promised their dad would send me a whole year's worth of money by the end of the week.

Re: FormerStudentIntern.

Every reef has its sharks... because some people are like that.

I am so gullible.  I was thinking she sounded like the perfect person.  LOL
I've never done anything like what you are doing except for relatives temporarily and there was never money involved.  LOL

I do not expect there to be another exchange as well. It is a shame how there are scammers out there.

Re: Pat,

And she wanted to pay for a full year.

That's too long to be stuck with a saint.

Re: CCT,

No worries, she would never have turned up.  There would have been a problem with the money, and it would turn out to be easiest to send it direct to your bank... What is your account number? If you hadn't caught on by then, you'd soon have been broke, and looking for another tin shack in a cheaper neighborhood.

Re: Kabu,

In fact, she never mentions Colorado Springs. These scam spams always give themselves away by the things they should say and don't. Often, it is evident they didn't actually read the posted ad in any detail.

She does sound too good to be true.

If you'd taken the bait, the next thing she'd want is your bank account number. I don't know if I could deal with a roommate so virtuous and dedicated to the relief of human suffering. Saints can be a buzzkill.

Oh! dear I would have taken her in straight away. Just shows how gullible men are.

yes it seems to me that if it is too good to be true then it aint...true that is...i felt reading this that she should be going to Washington or New York.... Wouldn't her English be better if she was ...Oh never mind Thank you God that our Ceil is a savvy woman.
