Re: adnohr,

One piece of advice I have been following: never respond immediately to an email of a tentative house-sharer: take some time to think it over, no matter how good it sounds.

LOL - good interaction with CCT. I'm wondering if I shouldn't do the same as you, get a housemate, seeing that Helen is moving back with her hubby.

Re: CCT,

Dear Mr Smith, With utmost respect for the recycling industry, I encourage you to take your tin snips to that shed, and convert it to cash, at which time we can discuss which corner of the garage will be most suitable for your camp cot.  There are a few little tasks around the house that I am sure you won't mind helping me with in the spirit of middle class solidarity.  Yours sincerely, Madam.

Dear Madam I find my tin shed does not provide enough room for my business and myself as a scrap merchant. Your accommodation sounds perfect, I could move in within days. You do take tokens I hope, I also have a pile of shopping vouchers. I think we of the middle class should look after each other, I hope that is a shared sentiment. I put my leaflet through your letter box the other day so you will know I am bona fide.  Yours Timbo Smith . Scrapper. PS. stick an envelope in your front window as approval I'll be doing your row tomorrow.

I can just see you dealing with any interested persons.  You are so business like, and yet kind and personable.

Oh, and that background check - them, not you.

Funny thing, whenever I hear Craigslist the word "killer" follows

automatically. I know you'll run a background check with your local police before you give anyone a key. Here in Mundane there's a $10 fee - well worth it. Everyone who volunteers at the Community Center has to provide one.
