Re: Annicita,

When my daughter introduced them to her daughter, Zoe was around 4, I guess, and when she finally got to the heart of hers, she'd lost interest. We didn't mind. We ate hers.

Re: CCT,

Maybe it was the type you grew: I understand there are a lot of different varieties. The ones we get here in the grocery stores are, I think, the 'globe' kind.  The potato type--I wonder if those are what we call Jerusalem artichokes.  I've never tried them.  The Italian old lady was grilling the small ones.

Well I have grown them Ciel but there never seemed to be any flesh to them perhaps it needed warmer times, which we seem to be getting now.I remember as a boy we grew

the potato type in the school garden and we kids ate them raw. not that I would want to even try it now but I remember they tasted faintly of walnuts. I'll remember your recipe if I may in case I am tempted by a packet of seed.

Re: Kabu,

Arm wrestling... or maybe thumb-wrestling, depending what sort of place it was, is more fun than simply cutting it in half with a knife, aye?

I was sharing a luncheon in Greece ...several dishes of delectable delights to nibble on(well in my case to gulp)LOL...one was of three artichokes...three between two!!!!! we fought over the third one. Sure we could have bought another serving but where would be the fun in that.

Re: TAPS,

I like the marinated ones.  A friend of mine says "they are like eating evil."

My sister used to love cooking artichokes.  I've never messed with them myself other than to put canned ones in a salad.
