Re: TAPS,

I have come to accept--sort of--that such vile, venal humans exist, but it still mystifies me that anyone can think that way.

Oh my!  Humans can be so awful, and other humans so kind and wonderful.  It is just that no matter how much the latter tries to do, they just cannot make up for the horribleness of the first.

This is something I could never pass on to my wife. She 'abhors' those puppy mills more than anyone I know . . .

It is so sad that people are doing that to animals.

Re: Naut,

You've had the smarts and skills to train your Ben properly, and that is what Marika has been doing since she started working with dogs. In NZ, until she got her papers to start a business, she volunteered with the local SPCAs working to make the dogs more adoptible.  That has been her primary task at the DC Humane Society, too.

Re: CCT,

Yes, their lives can only be better, and I believe dogs know when they have been rescued, and give more appreciation for it than people do.

Kudos to your daughter for doing very important work! I am disgusted beyond words at these 'puppy mills', and I think much more needs to be done to stamp out these barbarous places!

There are reputable breeders out there, and in my wider family several people do own dogs that came from breeders, as did Jag, my beautiful Poodle. But before getting a dog, we check out the breeders very carefully, and if we ever encountered one that didn't meet our very high standards, I can assure you we'd raise hell and get the authorities to start an investigation.

Meanwhile, I have decided to do my small part and help dogs in need, and that's how we got our Ben, who's repaying us tenfold with his love...

I bet those doggies will have a good life from now on. Horrible really keeping animals as breeding machines. tip of the iceberg . Cute daughter.
