Re: Gheeghee,

I have to laugh...  Not only can I not find where I might have written those two things down, I don't remember what they were!  Charlie might, he was there and has a much younger memory apparatus than mine.  Mine just leaks like... a really leaky thing.

Hi Ciel, I know this is a late comment...

but I just started reading & watching Game of Thrones. I am totally into it. I love the story so far, and I also like the show. I don't have HBO, so I'm only through season 3 on the shows as they become available on Amazon, and am only through the first book of the series.

I think they've so far stayed true to the story, and really did a great job of cramming the world into the show. I'd even say it's the best adaptation I've seen yet.

Anyway, I can't find where you talk about the two things you mention in your post...I'll continue looking through your blog for it.

Re: Naut,

Of all of them, Game of Thrones might interest you, as it is the story of a world writing its history, even though in a fantasy world. The dynamics of nation-building are not unlike those in our own world. And when the sex and nudity comes up, you can always avert your eyes.

Re: Kabu,

It's good for a kid to have a parent with a healthy sense of the ridiculous, and non-conformity.

Ciel

Being unfamiliar with Game of Thrones, Battlestar Galactica, Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy, I guess I just ain't with it and clearly out of my depth, LOL. I'm still interested in those two points, though...

Your Charlie is like my Cameron....where did such talent and drive come from??? I actually don't like any of these negative "living dead" cruel series like living bad or whatever it ws called. BUT, when Cam was young I watched all sorts of stuff and went to some pretty awful bands...also some pretty good gigd as well. I loved avery moment and loved those musician boys too.

Re: CCT,

It's a bit like how folk tales vary some in different tellings.  And I know a lot of people have favorite bits that are missed in the other format. Sometimes it's worth it, sometimes not.  I like both the book and movie of THE NAME OF THE ROSE, though they are quite different in places.

Charlie... he is pretty smart.  We are mystified.

I don't like watching screen versions of books Ciel. One forms one's own idea's and it always seems, to be in conflict. Sadly by the same motivation I do not like reading the books if I have seen screen versions. Pretty smart that Charlie where did it come from?

Re: FormerStudentIntern.

Some people think there is too much nudity and sex in it, but I think it works, it is not gratuitous, or the only thing that holds one's interest. Someone started her question yesterday, saying, "There is a lot of nudity in the show..." and some guy added a very sincere, "Thank you!"--addressed to the writer/producer, not the questioner.  Got a good laugh.

I have heard and read a lot of great things about the show.

Re: Pat,

That's an excellent point, and not one of the two.  It should have been brought up--an hour is too short a time for a really great conversation!

Must have been a very useful event for a writer - to get a chance

for Q&A with someone who's been successful with the work. I agree that one reason for turning away from something that's been a "don't miss" is  that it turns into a downer, but I've quit looking at some series because there's no essential change. The episodes become minor variations of the same formula that was once new and interesting, and after a while we flutter off to look for a different, better tasting flower.
