It really takes one's breath away, to think they must have looked up

all minute details to con folk like this. to find out Wiley had a son

who had to be a distance away or you could have been there on the spot.

If it had been some they would still be being fleeced for every cent they

had,

You were lucky, although it does not feel like it is so.

I never answer the phone unless it shows a number I know

I should get caller display.

It's really too bad that this had to happen. We're all vulnerable, and if you let your guard down for even a second . . . But I'm glad Sir Wiley is remaining diligent, and doing his best to pursue those involved. There's no shame in being duped by someone ( or something ) that has played on one's emotions. Difficult to defend sometimes. This storm will eventually pass . . .

I went over and read Wiley's post,

and I say again here: those creeps got him by playing on his compassion, not on greed: he has nothing to be embarrassed about.

One could take the route of never trusting anyone, and so be safe from any possible scams... but this reminds me of a line from The Rose:

It's the one who won't be taken

Who cannot seem to give...

Better by far to be vulnerable and giving than locked up tight and safe.

Kabu

Of course you spotted it! Maybe you should become a detective, like Miss Marple...

I guess we got more snow than you guys did yesterday...

Now we have another frigid night to deal with, with a strong wind warning posted....

I am glad to read that Wiley is pushing to get them caught and to resolve the situation.

Grandmummy,

I am so angry that you and Poppy have been scammed.  And it has nothing to do with smarts, believe me!  I wish I could get to Canada.  Will  you soon.  All our love to you and Poppy.

I dont know that much about how the money is sent but you would think if they have had enough of these the company sending the money would make people aware of the scam

I would be sorry for Wiley but, I think I will be more sorry for the scammers if he ever catches up with them.  They know not who they scammed, or how he never gives up.

I envy the kangaroo his sunny beach...

And two thumbs up to Wiley for working with the cops. I hope they catch the bums and put them where they can never do it again.
