I don't remember anything that bad - as a matter of fact, I can't remember any winter as bad as this one is turning out to be! Our snow is not very deep and definitely manageable, but now they have predicted more ice rain, which may strip the remaining branches off the trees on our street! One of my neighbours told me this morning he had heard that all the trees in our beautifully tree-lined street are slated to be cut down, which is very sad...

Funny I remember a deepy 47 , we had to get through with chains clanking on our wheels , there was hardly any traffic. What I remember was some young women American and men probably from the Air force base. They were so excited playing and throwing snowballs. It's lovely one shouted, they had never seen snow before, well I assumed they had not, so they could not have come from your part of the country. Of course in those days they may not have moved far from home until they joined the forces.

Of such storms and drifts, fine memories are made!

I woke Charlie once around midnight, to go for a walk in a heavy falling snow, the kind where all the light is diffused into a general orangey glow, and the world is muffled, and magic!  I think he was 7 at the time.  The snow was getting deep, a foot or so. We both speak of that walk from time to time.
