This fan write that your written words each day make her Universe a happier place. How young and innocent you were and thank God for your escape from the bully before he destroyed you in some way.

Great post!  I'll never forget that at age 16 I wrote one of those first person articles for Readers Digest that was supposed to bring you $5,000 if published.  I was so sure of myself.  I could not believe that they rejected it.  It made me give up writing except what was necessary for school assignments.  LOL

I have wondered a time or two about different paths that I did not take...I wonder, too, what I will be doing in five years.

Pat

Yes, but weren't those sunny days beautiful, when we knew everything, and 'they' understood nothing? Sadly, it's now our turn to understand nothing...

The path chosen is the best if for no other reason than that

it's the only one we've got, to deal with.  It has to be the best. After all, things go awry on all paths, and we tend to only look at the potential benefits of the paths not chosen.  We don't see in those daydreams the Mack truck barrelling down the street we'd have been crossing, or the maniac in the shrubbery, the mistakes we'd have run headlong into...

A job to tell Pat. Sadly you were a lot tougher than your husband, you have some good children and I suppose we all make mistakes. We forget the driving force in youth is to procreate. Of course you would do it all differently today, but times are different. So it could have been worse and it could have been a lot better.
