There clearly is a 'mystique' to Apple, as is the case with many brands. It's been quite successful, and while I am not at all opposed to success, it's the almost 'cultic' aspect of Apple's mystique I find distasteful. I'm kind of averse to 'cults' of any kind...

Well they now have an advantage so my peers tell me as Windows 8 does not seem to cut the mustard. You must be magic if you can repair the new untouchables.

Saying that one of my brothers bought Apple today and we have always used Windows. Good luck with the job hunting.

I have a mac too, and although I really don't have any emotional attachment to it, I do love it! And I think that, when a company . . . any company . . . talks of "protecting their brand," I believe they are referring to the avoidance of anything negative or derogative against their product, which is understandable. Especially coming from someone who actually works for their company! A standard no-no . . .

Yes, advertising has become a compelling force - using our own vanity against us.

Ahhhh so you're the one. :).  Seriously though good for you.  Sometimes I wish I could say the same.  But then I get pulled back in by another 'coo feature'

Annicita

That is a popular view - some of it based in fact, some of it not.  I think it warrants a full blog entry.  Thank you for making that point and I hope you'll return for a full post on my opinion of that subject :).

Oh, yes, they are not perfect. It is interesting how advertising makes the products look cool...It reminds me a lot of those shampoo/body wash commercials for guys where the commercials imply that if one uses it, one will be attractive to women.

Can you believe it, I have never had an Apple anything, not that I have anything against Apple, I don't, I just have what I have, an epson printer scanner, a hanns.g screen and a compaq stack that all need to be dusted...Again...Oh ya, an old desk from the 1930's to sit them on, and yes, it needs to be dusted too.
