Re: Re:

actually I was back in time for planting out the seedlings. March 24th is the day to plant like a madwoman. all those wee plants will grow like crazy. No point in planting seeds. Little creatures eat 'em.

Re:

Yes Adnohr I wonder if these rather despondent poems are from a period when life was a bit depressing. I can't help thinking that what is called love is merely sexual attraction, or to put it succinctly( need )at that time. One sometimes knows what is better for one, but it does not always appeal.

Re:

I don't think the bugs like the cold Jay. I hope the newbies respond, I just glanced at something I had written when I first came here and had 23 comments on poetry alone. Perhaps we shall be taken over.

Re: Tick Talk! Ciel

Sounds a cute idea Ciel. I don't really mind mice except the house ones. Some are quite

dainty little creatures. Ticks seem to get on the baby hedgehogs, but I have not seen many this year.

Re:

It is a shame I suppose you missed the early gardening days by tripping down under.

Yes once one can think of innards, one has got it capped.

Most of those kinds of nasty will let go if you soak a cotton wool ball in gin and place it over them.  They probably get too drunk to hang on....

I've never had a cat that would cooperate with a human's ministrations for their good.  Pitiful was especially bad about that.  She would fight tooth and nail, wouldn't take medicines or cooperate in any way.  She had a mind of her own.

I am glad that you have been able to fix the bugs on poor little teeny weeny kitty cat's head and shoulders. One has to be gentle and very patient with a pussy cat.

Lovely flower today. My garden is almost done...Sniff!! and the poem well maybe some loves are not meant to be in this life.....but well done CC.

That was quite the experience with Bughead, the bug on the cat's head...You have me wondering what the speaker's next move will be in the poem.

Tick Talk!

I had a friend who got Lyme Disease... it took years, literally, to get cured.  It is, by the way, named after Lyme, Connecticut, where it was first spotted.  The deer tick that carries it requires field mice for part of its life-cycle, so the health dept people came up with a way to stop that cycle by planting bits of cotton wool, impregnated with something to kill the tick larvae, around the countryside.  The mice carry it into their nests, and it does them no harm.  I know some would as soon lose the mice, too... but compared to ticks, mice are just so cute!  Shiny little eyes and woofly nose...!

Your flower is lovely to begin with, but especially so with that aqua background!

I just got back from checking my cats...phew, everything is okay, no bugs, but it is cold here now, and yes, I feel if we as Blogit members welcome the newbies and explain how to make friends we will have a better chance to have them stay and they will actually have a good time...Of course it all depends on how friendly they are. By the way, the poem was very good today, as always, and the last line was remarkable...At least I thought so.

Ugh! I hate ticks! I've had to remove them from my dogs now and then too, although not often, thankfully! What a great, descriptive poem! An eloquent way of bring down youth's castles.

Atta boy, Archie! Get 'im! Yeah, you have to be careful with certain insects! So, did you call the bug 'Bughead' or start calling the cat 'Bughead'? Either one is cute . . .

Re: If the bug is a tick, and you've found a second one, then

She gets them from the grass I think Pat I do spray her bedding

and she does not come indoors very often as I have made her

a warm pad in a greenhouse an electric heater under a long tin

with a blanket on top, I think the treatment will keep them off.

Baby hedgehogs are often smothered with them but I think

they drop of eventually. Thankfully I have not heard of

any cases here but a friend of mine a few miles away caught

something like that and is bedridden

If the bug is a tick, and you've found a second one, then

there could be trouble. You may need to spray some insecticide in the areas where the cat wanders.  Certain kinds of ticks cause lime disease.
