Both the lab and Mr. G? Probably a stray animal walking about. My boys do that too on occasion. It's fun to imagine scary things though....

I'm glad you have a guard cat to keep you on your toes.

Jimmy's  wife is correct on this one, dogs and cats can see the enitiies that we cannot see.  I read that somewhere can't remember now.  So maybe Mr Graysome saw one that scared the crap out of him!  LOL

Cats have a way of hearing or seeing things that escape us completely. Every once in a while, our cat Riki just stops and stares at nothing in particular. My wife thinks it's either ghosts, or Riki is just contemplating her next move to take over more of our bed space . . .

You have me wondering what it was outside. A lot of excitement there, I see.

You need a camera it might be quite exciting to see what prowls

 around at night. Although I expect it was another tom cat, trying to suss

Mr Graysome out, unlucky.

I suppose next you'll be wanting a video camera to pop on

when the motion sensor lights do. That way you can know what haunts your perimiter.

It might have been mama bear
on the way to her lair
to sleep the long winter away;
Or a coyote or two
making tracks in the dew.
But for now, we really can't say.

I guess the Lab across the way noticed something inappropriate thus the barking. Do you have the lights in the front also? Did they come on too? I love it that Mr Graysome alerted you. Be blessed you three way up there in the North Country. x2

Kabu

A peeping Tom? In any case, Mr G seems to be a proper guard cat...

That was a lovely post even if I don't think the moon was Cheese, the story itself was the wonderful child that comes out every now and then.
