The funny thing is...
It was a totally improvised thing. I just started with the premise that a battered spouse was working with dirty breakfast dishes (cereal being customarily eaten in bowls). Bowling balls would have been way too gruesome in a domestic-violence situation. Can't imagine mixing bowling and domestic violence without resorting to white-trash stereotypes, either.
