What hasn't already been said??

The comment system is the life and soul of this place! I love the kindness that people show, and the sense of community. Like Naut, I also enjoy getting "into the fray" with a good debate now and again, and being able to see issues from multiple view points.

At the top of the screen, it says "Add a New Comment on A comment on your comments..." which has made me smile

Blogit comments are the spice in my day. I run in and out of blogit ...not just reading my comments but stopping by to see what is being commented to my friends. Wiley and I are isolated here and we like it. but blogit and our friendships keep us in the loop so to write, with daily communication and dialogue. we discuss togehter different posts and Oh it is such a part of our day.

I enjoy reading comments of my readership as well, definitely way better than a Facebook "like" as you say.

Yes Pat, but I do not like comments that are pasted from a selected list. They should be about the written article and even if they are mundane it does not matter. I think one should try and be interested in the ideas or announcements of examples near to the writers heart . Sometimes if one finds one is at odds with a persons ideas, perhaps it is better to just leave a book mark or pretend to miss it altogether. I can tell lies as easy as the next person. If ever you want to learn the physiological and strange reason for this, it is dead funny but I will only tell you in secret as it concerns my late father.

Pat

You're right, of course. In fact, when I joined Blogit lo these many years ago, I was expecting debates, the quintessential form of 'feedback.' As it turned out, that has happened only rarely, and I came to realize very quickly that my assumptions were a bit naive in the first place. Nontheless, I do enjoy getting comments, and will sometimes respond, given time and inclination, epecially when they stimulate me, and then we have a kind of 'mini-debate'...And a pleasant surprise has been that, with very few exceptions, in my political blog people have managed to keep their disagreements with me within the bounds of civility...

Good post.
I really do believe that "like buttons" made us lazy.

The conversation, the sense of connection,

that's what keeps me coming back. Writing itself is oft-called, by writers, the 'solitary vice' because we exercise that passion for words alone, and even if we get published, we don't get much actual direct feedback from our readers. Blogit is like being in a playground with other writers and readers.

I had always thought that this is what the site was all about . . . the exchange of thoughts, ideas, opinions and concepts. It's fun for everyone, in one form or another!

I agree.  I also like the feedback that I don't not get regularly. Most in my circle just do not listen, half listen or just plain ignore me.  I live in a secluded area and will not aggressively pursue friends for it is difficult to know who you will attract!

I agree. Not only does it encourage the writer, but the comments are great entertainment for the reader too.
