Well, if one is going to engage in unacceptable behavior it's only a matter of time before they are exposed and the consequences will follow! I don't feel sorry for her, she brought it on herself! sam

Karma does play a role when live in public eye. A conscious decision must be made. It is sad for her.

You are so right. Boycotting is okay for one who like her, while explicit lyrics to anyone the money from the sales are fine. Ridiculous!

Great post!

I feel a bit bad for Paula - she's certainly stuffed both feet firmly into her mouth, which is a really bad idea when you live in the public eye. But then, why do her products get dropped from major stores who have no trouble selling rap albums? The language contained in those songs is extremely offensive and full of racial slurs, but they sell copies to kids without a second thought.

I don't agree with what Paula said (or has allegedly done in the past), but this whole situation stinks of double standards and persecution.

Thank you  I learned a new word today. Disparage.. To speak of in a slighting or disrespectful way; belittle. Yes, it's a sad situation for her. Her words have come back to haunt. I'm curious .. does karma play role?

You are correct.

Sometimes saying wrong or hurtful things is like clipping your fingernails too short . . . once it's done, it's done. The only difference is, those fingernails will grow back to a comfortable length, while those striking words will linger for as long as people will allow them to. And the way the media works these days, anyone even remotely in the public eye who "cuts those fingernails too short" will be crucified with their own words, and afterward may as well go live on a desert island someplace. People may forgive, but they won't be allowed to forget . . . .

Why make such a fuss now. Deal with it at the time, then let it go.

Good point and I agree. A segment of people let words destroy them.

Still it was so many years ago, I think it the scourge is way overdone.  She should just say it was wrong, but it was far in her past.  Southern cooking still is unhealthy though, nice point.

I just dont get why all the sudden they are getting on her when she has been doing cooking shows etc for a very long time

I always go back to the adage that sicks and stones will break my bones, but names can never hurt me...Unless I want them to. Being Mormon, there are many times we must past folks who are shouting the most hurtful things, and we do. This is hard for me, I grew up in a mixed neighborhood, I want to break their noses, but I don't...I just think about sticks and stones and walk on by...

She is stuck in how good things were with no clue that it was good to and for her at the expense of others. Entitlement mindset that infuriates.

You are right about that. I just got off phone after a day of texting and confusion. I made up my mind some get offended and offend out of plain ignorance.

I learned about having words thrown back with a twist...some people it is best not to communicate with.

Paula Deen is learning that the hard way, I see.

UNHEALTHY FOODS

You are righrt  there are alot of people who say and do one thing in private and pertray another type of person in public.  It is when that private forgets that they are in public that causes them such grief!  As in what happened to Paul Deen.  As well as Mel Gibson..can ruin a person in the blink of an eye!

I was truly shocked that she wanted waiters at a wedding to dress as slaves and doesn't consider her words for african americans to be a big deal....join us in the 21st century...
