Good for him

both for educating "the masses" about the need for handicap accessible places, and also for learning a few lessons himself along the way!

what a brave character and no pity party for him

just get on with educating folks as to his and others needs. I remember the year of the disabled way back and in Australia so many changes were made. Ramps and wider doors and elevators and bathrooms in public places. So many obstacles that were so obvious once you looked.

His life could have been so different, but he had the spirit and still has by all accounts. Good story Pat,

Pat

A truly remarkable man! I have infinite admiration for people who work hard at overcoming their handicaps - is their anyone more admirable than Stepen Hawking?

You've got me thinking...

If we all made a list like this, it's likely we'd all find people in our pasts who were more remarkable than we gave them credit for, back then, or more influential on our own ways to becoming who we are.

Good for him.  It's better now, but back in the 1970's there was a need for men like him.
