Re:

No I would pop them in as soon as posible though, I think you are a month or two in advance of us , but you would still get some nice young ones. I might plant some more soon in pots for Christmas. I can't wait to see if my first planting has done any good.

I have found a spot on the other side of the ditch where I want to plant raspberries and potatoes, but first I must build a bridge to get the tiller over there, is it too late to plant potatoes. I am glad you sinned and put your poetry in...I learn much from reading your poetry.

I rather feel that sin is something which we should indulge in every opportunity - it gives us something to repent when the occaision demands.

Besdies, I like your poetry

Re:Adnohr

Thanks you make me smile sometimes and that is OK.  Hope you feel better don't climb any high stools and look down. I once had to take a few pills before I could paint the apex of the house.

Indeed Jimmy, actually I never see many sparrows I think the Chinese wiped a lot out, but they are chipper for nipping the green fly. Hm, discretion is the better part of valour, I hope a petition of mature ladies do not protest outside your establishment.

Re: You mentioned chard - I remember my mom grew it and made us

Your memory serves you right Pat, I prefer it to spinach as it can be stripped and cooked as greens or just the white stalks, I thought I could overwinter some in a plastic tunnel . No we try not to do sins on this blog, but is nice to hear someone confirm the truth.

my mom and I both love peonies...they smell better and last longer than roses

posted by Annicita on June 5, 2013 at 8:18 PM | link to this | reply

Most poems read better if in a garden so this is the perfect spot.

peonies are so beautiful...I had two flowers the rest are in bud. They may flower or not. Sometimes the ants get to them.

I do have Mum's inpots and they are coming up slowly well a couple of them are. I will buy a few later from the nursery man.

I have never heard of brassica, although I do like string beans. And you poem reminds me tht I should really get my bike out again...Oh, and I just remembered: You asked me for suggestions on how best to use parsley! Try tabbouleh, and if you don't know what that is, here's the recipe:

Tabbouleh (bulgur wheat and parsley salad)

1 cup fine or medium bulgur wheat
Juice of 2 lemons
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/8 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp ground or grated nutmeg
4-5 mint leaves, to taste, finely chopped
1 cup diced tomato
1 cup chopped flat-leaf parsley leaves
1 teaspoon kosher salt
2-3 large scallions, finely sliced (white and green parts)
Fresh ground pepper, to taste

You mentioned chard - I remember my mom grew it and made us

eat it. Those days we weren't so choosy or so well-fed we could turn our noses up at food that Mama said was good for you. I don't remember it being bad, kind of spinach like in flavor, a bit like celery for texture. No doubt vitally nutritious.

As for sin... Well, I've seen nothing sinful, heard nothing sinful, and will speak of nothing sinful... What happens in CCT's garden stays in CCT's garden.

CCT...

That tree peony coming to life after thirty years with a full flowering is nature at its best..just goes to show us the late bloomer hung in there and is now thriving....

So to protect those string beans, I guess you'll need a "scaresparrow!"  And by the way, there might have been a few "old men's tales" out there, but most of them probably are old wive's tales . . .

Ah!! Thank you for feeding my CCT poem addiction! I smiled more than once while reading it - and you are very clever with words, Sir - even if it is a Garden Site, they are as cheerful as a picture of colorful flowers!

A lot of things going on with the garden, I see...Reading the poem reminds me just how much power words have.
