Re: Dr JPT

I know the feeling I could gage lengths and hights and weights etc., accurately until it all went metric now I have to work at it.

Upgrading and saving money is ideal. It is unbelievable but true that the new devices are more efficient. As a math person, I do not get all poems quickly. If I do not comment it is because my brain did not get the figurative, rhetorical or the exact symbolism essential to put in a form to give meaning for understanding. SMILE!

Re: It happens I once worked for the water company, and with some

Goodness Pat a bit naughty. The companies here try to get folk on a meter. I remember an island they were short of water and had to be upgraded . They were all put on meters and surprisingly there was no shortage.

Re: JS

Yes it's not so cosy here by all accounts. Someone said it is cheaper and better to live in a hotel. Or stay in bed with a trained nurse.

They just put a new box on my house too, and a new gas meter...Sounds like some kind of conspiracy to me.

GHave the teddy bear read the electric meter. Surely you’ve heard of a bear plug sir. BC-A, Bill’s R®st

In my area, the electric company is going to switch over our meters to something that is supposed to save us money. I guess that things are similiar across the pond...A tough realization to have there at the end of the poem.

If you must retire to the Elders Home,

be sure to take your bear, and your smile, and that glint in your eye, and share them with the ladies... except maybe the bear.

The poem is so wistful...

if you lived in america, my hint would be to stay out of the old persons home and take your chances with the bear, and its flea.  your days sound delightful and always make me smile. and remember to never say never.

It happens I once worked for the water company, and with some

customers we couldn't get inside every month to read their meters, so we'd estimate their usage. Sometimes our estimates were high, and after we managed to get the real reading, we'd discover the customer had paid too much. Our manager would then call and inform the customer his meter wasn't working right, and we'd change it - and never give them a refund.

That was cute, CCT. I too bet the lady used it as conversation over the dinner table. Sweet poem - wish I had dreams like yours instead of earthquakes and people doing weird things. That pain gone now?

CCT...

I bet that lady who called you in the evening is still grinning after you telling her you have a bear...but watch out for those fleas...our cats never go out but the fleas manage to get in through screens or on someone's clothing..we end up having to give them a flea treatment once or twice (or more) during the flea season....

Whimsy is often lost on bureaucrats - it's nice it wasn't a waste in this case, LOL...And few can write such successful poetry to their dream lovers as you...
