Re: fsi

oh my gosh , you are sooooo right.  it seems like there are only two seasons anymore, summer or winter!  strange isnt it?

If only you could have dug in a load of well rotted manure in the Autumn. I always envy those gardeners in some parts of the country where one can push a cane down nearly 6 feet into a soft rich soil. Be sure and get a compost bin working away for you.

Re: lustor

i could never keep plants in the house alive either.  maybe if you have a patio or porch area you might like to do some pots, they are easier than making things grow in the ground.

Re: jimmy

i may get some things going before it is too hot, we will see, but i will have herbs, i already have a good supply of rosemary, and onions are planted, so i want some basil, maybe parsley, i also have some garlic out by the barn, but may plant chives.  yes, i will definately use them in my cooking.

Re: annicita

with age i am learning that everything does not have to come in a day, and i think gardening is fine for those that like to do it, but not worth hiring someone to do it.

It seems that during spring it either feels like winter or summer, no spring-like temperatures.

Yeah, it may take a lot of work initially, but it's only April! I think you've still got plenty of time to get the garden ready and get everything planted. So, what kind of herbs are you planning to grow? I'm assuming much of it will end up being used in some of your cooking exploits!

I like you determination, too! I think you have a good plan in mind and I wish you all the best! I have learned more about gardening from my mistakes so it's okay to experiment in my estimation! sam
