Re: jfm32

To be honest I agree with you in parts - I think the last 4 lines feel a little clumsy and the rhythm is disturbed there but after several hours of tweaking I have gotten nowhere so I opted to leave it until I reach it for a rewrite

Re: lovelyladymonk

It's a difficult fear to face because it's often formed by experience and yet without facing it we remain crippled by it

Re: Sam444

Absolutely, it is a chain that we can only break for ourselves and one that cripples us at the worst times if we allow it

Re: Annicita

For most of us it's intimidating but not too bad but I think for the genuinely shy it can be an impossible hurdle

I know... as soon as one side starts to imagine what the other is thinking things go horribly wrong

We like to pretend we're big and brave but it's all a con really

Re: BC-A

True, but often the weakling needs to find the courage to speak first

lion...the poem reads just fine to me....

Been there as the "shy boy" when I was younger....

just re-read again, and take what I said back. Maybe i just wanted to be upliffted.

I like the idea of the poem, but the rhyming just doesn't work, but it could. Couple your ideas with the rhyme of your thought. Here, the rhythm is everything, go with it , and don't breach it with outer thoughts,

I've gone through this more times than I could count, my friend.  This just breaks my heart and makes me cry.

Fear destroys everything.

I could envision it all! Sometimes fear of what might happen can sap one of the necessary courage! sam

why is it so hard to take the first step?   I have done that before...a bit intimidating if you haven't done before but I did it first at a dare....and i was the one who spoke first between me and my hubby

Oh dear Lion and what you think she is thinking. Probably very unnerving for the young lady, she dare not show encouragement, one would not want to think that she was brazen.

Great!
Four sons and nine grandsons have surely helped me to see that trait in the male species.
