It must be so tough to lose your home, especially when it's a beautiful old one

How very sad this is. My wife's Aunt had the remains of an old stage coach station near her ranch property in Colorado that is gone now. I remember thinking of Wild Bill, Doc Holiday and others who were known to have traveled that line. Your heart must be so very sad, and I am so sorry, remembering how I felt when I heard.

It's a terrible thing, that fire. Thanks for explaining that Carngam thing.
As one who grew up in the forested foothills of the Cascade mountains in Washington State, I HATE forest fires and fear them. So glad that family survived...

I was on the same site as TAPS. Fires can destroy so much so quickly! I hope your family are all still safe?

How sad I have been keeping up with some of this. I saw one place where grandparents and five grand children held to a board walk thing in the lake for three hours to keep from burning. It is so sad.

Thanks for the further info on the puzzling picture. It seems a lot of the older buildings go fast once they start burning.

I did some research too as I was interested in the history of this place. I ran across a group of 24 pictures that really show how extensive the damage was at http://tools.weeklytimesnow.com.au/photo-gallery/photo_gallery_popup.php?category_id=13222

Very sad! But when I looked at the picture, I thought there was something really strange about it: The surrounding vegetation is completely untouched! I didn't think this had anything to do with the fires that are raging in other areas...
