This makes me stop and think about how fortunate I was to have a very dependable, providing hubby so I could focus on running the home and raising the four boys. Definitely not perfect, he was a good family man and I am thankful for that time spent with my sons.

Oh do continue K abu... Its good for you to get it out and share it... Its compared in Psychology as having something heavy inside and wanting to move it. ITs hard to do it alone but if someone comes and helps sharing the load does alleviate the shore :-) The more people that lend the hands to "carry" the heavy thingie the less weight that is left for you to carry :-) Besides, you write so well... Its riveting :-) xoxoxo

No wonder you went into nursing. It's tough to feel so vulnerable
when there are kids involved, and there's empowerment in being a caregiver. God bless the nurses of this world! At least we get to the point of forgiveness when we find out the infliction of suffering was not deliberate. Here's hoping '13 will be a lucky year.

Sweet Lady, Difficult life with his disorder to say the least. I don't know how you made it but you were strong and young. I am so sorry about what such stresses bring on one's being, their relationships their life. I am so happy you are where you are now. Thank you for telling us this because I am sure it is a place you do not want to visit often. I love you resilient, stable and lovely woman.

Yes, do continue. It just may help someone else. Fortunately the bi-polar disorder is easier to diagnose in the present day.

I think this is the story of our times, the mother raising the children, the father either gone or a workaholic, not to mention the bi-polar thing. Something that I often times wonder if whole societies can get. I would wager that at least half, or more of today's children are raised by single, or might-as-well be single, mothers. A story that needs to be told by someone like you who lived it.

Wagga... sounds familiar!
Would I have seen that name on signs between Sydney and the Blue Mountains?
Undiagnosed and untreated mental/emotional disorders are the bane of many families. I am glad you and yours made it through.

You certainly had your plate full! It's very interesting, and I'd like to hear more! (Even though I get tired just by reading about it, LOL...)
