This is one of my favorite flowers. My mother kept them hanging in the porch ceiling and those beautiful flowers gracefully waved in the breeze. I loved that poem, beautiful.

What a lovely poem.

I think the habit of building houses on riversides and in reclaimed swamps is coming back to bite us a bit.  I am always careful to pick a house some way up a hill to reduce chances of floods

Re: Stunning, CCT! Gentle and image laden romanticism..

Well Ray the family has been on this ground for a 100 years and I am on the last little patch that drains well, lower down the neighbours have flooded, but the Council are more careful to flush the drains these days. Funny, I was saying to my brother the other day. remember when the old lady and her hubby lived lower down, they used to throw all the waste water on the grass verge opposite, it was always greasy  there, but it soaked away, happy times.

I just take them out and send them in, the dentist does the rest.

Re: mariss9

Hi Marrise, no I was thinking of doing a bucket next year bunches for charity beside the ones that I give away. I'll have to see how the wind blows. Several did give me apple pies this year, but I have loads of apples and blackberries in the freezer. The flooding problem keeps getting worse, but if one keeps building on the same ground it is bound to increase the amount of rain on a given area.

Well you are in front or behind of us Pat, I am always scrubbing them, if I ever come into a fortune I'll get a brighter smile.

Re: Naut

Hi Naut I had better start brushing them for half an hour. A goat is lucky, look in its mouth.

Re: Taps

It's swallowing the water that comes from the drill that gets to me, once the assistants used to press their fiery thighs against my leg. Sadly the ice age has returned.

Re: Wiley

I mean't on the dentist old chap, I once told the assistant she had done  perfect job and had not let the water run down my throat for the first time. She has been pretty rough since. They can't swallow a compliment.

While the dentist works on your teeth, let your mind flee away to your beautiful flowers.  Perhaps it will help.

And good luck with your dentist - I'm gonna make an appointment tomorrow with mine, hoping that he won't be able to take me until next week, to defer the ordeal...

My heart goes out to those effected by the flooding...Love brings with it a lot of bittersweet feelings.

Do you ever sell any of them?  I do not know how such things work, but they seem like something a florist or market might want to buy, if you have any interest in it, especially at the end of the season.  Hope the dentist goes fine! I am glad the floods did not bother you, they look rough on the internet and television.
