Re: Pat

Pat I think there is always the temptation to appear to know things others do not. I personally like to understand what someone is trying to say even if it is believable or not. I did write some poems as I sobbed my heart out, it was a bad time.

Re: Taps

Well I don't know what that means Taps, but I think you are giving me a little prod.

Re: CCT

Archie likes to have little jobs done for him Naut, just likes doing manual work. He is a milkman and he runs all through the night delivering milk, not stopping for a drink. I keep telling him he will drop down dead one night. We do have it quite cold at times 10 below and as I said before more people die of the cold here than in Russia. I saw a girl this morning with a pair of shorts and a blouse, it was a misty rainy morning. In older folk the blood thickens in the cold, you guys with your big furs might smile but it is a fact.

Re: Anniicita

Yes I knew there was A Wasteland A. I tried to get permission to write about a little bit that was mine. One does not just jump in and snatch, it would not be protocol .

Re:Straightforward

Thank you Ms SF. IT is a shame about the flowers the carnations used to be scented like musk. I do hope I can grow some, it is exciting to watch a bloom open  and receive a gift.

Re: Adnohr

All you ladies are so well read, when younger I was so knocked up after work that I hardly read at all.

I like to smell flowers before I buy them...The "glow of love" goes a long way. Yes, there are many who can relate.

Wow that poem was amazing!

I agree with you about scented plants, I am trying to get lots of them in my garden, I expect it will smell like a tart's handbag by summer but thtat's fine with me

Like Annicita, I thought of King's Roland too as I read your poem. A harsh journey that turns out worth it in the end?

What a beautiful poem, and yes, I agree about the scent of florists' flower

bouquets or arrangements

your poem reminds me of Roland and his wanderings through The Wastelands in Stephen King's series about Roland

HMaybe that explains the gallons of antifreeze one filled I saw, sitting by the waste container outside the supermarket sir.  BC-A, Bill’s R®st

Archie doesn't seem to be of much use if he can't even put antifreeze into his car! And I didn't think you needed that stuff in Britain anyway - I mean, what you call 'cold' is our average August temperature! But I love your poem...

Archie is so bossy sometimes...tries to bully you I do believe.

Your waste land is a place of beauty and a joy to read and I think it is right sad how nothing really smells like it used to . Roses without scent, our honey suckle gives off just a wisp of what it should...carnations...I've almost forgot how they should be.

You have an abundance of wisps me thinks.

So much about Eliot's "Wasteland" is incomprehensible to most,

and this iconic wasteland of yours is full of passionate imagery, and I got lost there.
