I think heavy stainless steel is the best, although one should also have at least one good cast iron pan and, as a chef buddy of mine once told me, also a copper bowl for beating egg whites...(I haven't got around to that yet, which doesn't really matter, I can't even remember the last time I beat egg whites, LOL)

Absolutely! The "old" stuff is still the best stuff! My wife still uses the pots and pans her mother used, and there's nothing wrong with them. My wife is also very sentimental, so using this cookware keeps a constant reminder of her mother around.

i had kp every night as well with my older sister....the younger ones never had kp until my sis and i went away to college....

I loved the Revere Ware, even the all-stainless versions.

BTW, if you want to brighten the copper, mix a little vinegar (tablespoon or two) with a teaspoon or so of salt in a cup, pour or brush it on the surface. It will make old dark pennies look like new.
