Our colored leaves are gone now, but I sure did enjoy them while they were here.  Now I enjoy looking at the naked trunks and branches and see their shapes and differences.

Re: Adnohr, I have so missed the fullness of a 4-season year!

I grew up in the east, but have spent the past 36 years in the evergreen-dominant rain forests of Washington State, the past year here beside the piney Rockies.  The Northwest has its brilliant vine maples, and the Rockies, the yellow-to-peach aspen groves, but there is truly nothing to compare with the Eastern Woodlands, where it's the evergreen that is the occasional presence, and the rest is all maples, oaks, beeches, willows... !

Re: Ciel, it's a bittersweet time of year.

Yes, I feel that, too, the older I get.

Re: Pat, now I am back in Colorado Springs,

where winter has already touched down with snow and winds, the trees here are mostly bare, too, a more dramatic change now I've been reminded what a proper autumn looks like!

Gorgeous -- almost too brilliant for the eye to take in.

The maples in front of the porch are almost bare now. Lets the sun through in late afternoon, cheerful and warm in the front room.

Re: CCT, if you visited the set of all those DC autumn photos,
