So boundaries-issues are not too surprising.  I imagine that a simple explaining will help more than getting all excited about it.  It's funny, how knowing the other person's story changes how we feel about what they've done that is a problem for us.

That makes good sense to me, too.  I wonder what that woman was thinking... or maybe she just wasn't.

Re: Re: Re: I think you need to speak up when someone offends.

I was talking to another member of the church...(she does my healings)....she agrees...since i am in charge of the kitchen i should say something if she does it again to let her know that there is food already out there and if she is in there doing that then others will follow suit and it will make it hard to accomplish anything and if what is out there isn't to her liking perhaps she would like to bring her own snack....

of course today she didn't do it....  and the other lady didn't show up today

Re: Re: I think you need to speak up when someone offends.

Sounds like a good plan.  It may be that there are conventions in that place different from your expectations, and the minister can clear that up, or it may be that by any standards, those two women were out of bounds, and the minister can clarify what your authority is to boot em out of your kitchen!

Venting to the wrong person doesn't resolve a problem, and I also know from experience, it ends up adding to the problem. It always left me upset with myself, and still facing the same trouble, because the one who needed to know how much they were upsetting me, still didn't.  It's a 'speaking truth to power' thing, when we've given so much power to another person, over our self-worth, well-being, contentedness...

Good luck--I hope you can get this happily resolved soon!

Re: I think you need to speak up when someone offends.

well i used to just get really upset and vent...now i don't and feel better but still it upsets me and maybe i will talk to the minister...i think i will talk to larry and not his wife...

I think you need to speak up when someone offends.

If it's hard to do that, then maybe these are the lessons sent to poke you into leaping the hurdle. It's also part of the curriculum to keep it cool and courteous when some part of you is simply seething inside!

I'd maybe start by talking to the minister about how upsetting those situations were to you personally.  What's a minister for, if not to help one resolve inner crises?

This is a very strange behaviour.

I wouldn't let them behave like that A. it spoils it for the meek. I would hand them a bag with some bread and cheese amd say until you behave in God's house that's all you get. Or better still tell the Mnister to kick ass.

Oh wow. My grandmother would have let us go without, if we didn't want what she cooked--and leave the meal for leftovers the next day, and the next...until it was eaten.  And it usually did get ate. Thanks for sharing, A.
